In her complaint to the Nugra police station, the woman said the man who assaulted her was a soldier who stopped her and asked her to get into his car. KUWAIT: Kuwait plans to soon announce the government’s strategy to deport 100,000 foreign workers annually in a bid to address the Gulf state’s demographic imbalance, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Thekra Al-Rashidi said in a recent statement. The plan, which aims to drive one million expatriate labor forces out of Kuwait within a decade, drew mixed reactions ever since Al-Rashidi announced it last month following a meeting with a governmental committee tasked with finding ways to organize the country’s expatriate population. “Reforming the labor market is among the top priorities along with steps to support national labor forces in the private sector,” Al-Rashidi was quoted as saying by Al-Jarida newspaper yesterday.

KUWAIT: Farwaniya security director Lt Gen Abul Fattah Al Ali took a van loaded with 739 bags full of locally made liquor into custody and transferred it to drugs fighting administration. Detectives are trying to find out the person who was driving the bus. As per security soruces a patrol ordered a Suzuki van to stop and the Indian driver was ordered to show his identity card. As security men asked him to open the van box to see what was inside, the man fled the scene on foot in Jleeb Shuyoukh area. As the security men searched the van, they found 739 bags full of locally made liquor. In the meantime, Farwaniya police arrested a 23-year-old bedoon who was found driving his car in an erratic way. Police searched his car and found three bags of heroin. He and the drugs were sent to drugs fighting administration.

KUWAIT: No one among the leaders in the private sector would believe that it was possible to get rid of 100,000 workers every year to bring down the number of expat laborers by one million over the next ten years, as proposed by Social Affairs and Labor Minister Thekra Al-Rashidi. Several high ranking officials and executives said correcting demographic imbalance requires a long term plan which will have to incorporate certain crucial amendments to laws related to economic, social and security issues. The solution would have to be in consonance with the development of the economy.

In this week’s online survey, the Arab Times asked voters their views on the causes of growing traffic accidents in Kuwait. About 34% of the voters felt that the road rage of local youth was a crucial factor in traffic accidents. Speaking to the Arab Times, some of them said that cars speeding above 200 kmph is a common sight in Kuwait.
