Kuwait seeks bids for national carrier stake

KUWAIT: Kuwait yesterday invited bids from local and international investors to buy a stake in Kuwait Airways as part of a privatization process to turn the loss-making airline into profit. The privatization committee of Kuwait Airways said in a statement that interested parties should submit their “expression of interest” to participate in the bidding for 35 percent of the airline.

Kuwait Airways plane makes emergency landing in Muscat

A Kuwait Airways flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Muscat after smoke was detected in the cabin on Friday, state-run news agency Kuna reported. The flight was returning to Kuwait City from Kuala Lumpur when smoke was detected coming out from under a passenger’s seat, Kuna reported, citing the airline’s director of public relations and information department, Adel Bouresly.
