Former DMK minister KPP Samy arrested on murder charges

CHENNAI: DMK former state fisheries minister KPP Samy was on Saturday arrested by the Greater Chennai Police Commissionerate personnel on charges of murder. Police teams led by the Washermenpet deputy commissioner of police Avinash Kumar on Saturday nabbed him from his house near Thiruvottiyur.

Kuwait – A 26-year-old expatriate man tried to commit suicide by submerging himself into the sea in Souq Sharq.Securitymen and paramedics referred the man to Amiri Hospital and investigations are going on to determine the circumstances which prompted him to commit suicide.

Cop run over by Kuwaiti man

Dentist assaulted by Kuwaiti brothers for extracting wrong tooth

Kuwait – An Egyptian dentist has been assaulted in Kuwait for reportedly extracting the wrong tooth.The dentist, who works in a private clinic, said that he extracted the tooth of a Kuwaiti patient, but was shocked when he came back after an hour with his brother and the two beat him, claiming that he had pulled out the wrong tooth, Arab Times reported.

Chhota Shakeel’s father dies in Mumbai

MUMBAI: One of the most wanted accused in India and underworld don Chhota Shakeel’s father died here on Friday. Babumiyan Mayuddin Sheikh (83), a resident of Ismail building in Temkar Mohallah area of south Mumbai died while undergoing treatment at a local hospital, said a senior police officer.

Crime rate increased in Kuwait by 3.5 pc in last two years

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The crime rate has increased by 3.5 percent in the last two years, with a total of 22,902 and 23,693  cases recorded in 2009 and  2010 respectively, reports Al-Anba daily quoting attorney Abdu-llah Al-Kan-dari as saying.

UP dairy development minister to be booked for triple murder

A local court on Saturday directed the police to register a case of murder against Uttar Prasdesh dairy development minister Avadhpal Singh Yadav. The court order came in response to an application moved by the brother of a private security guard Santosh, who was gunned down on June 10 with his employer Vijay Verma and his son Mithun Verma in their jewellery shop in Jaithra town of Etah district, about 270 km from Lucknow.

US Soldier sentenced to 3 years for Afghan killings

Iftar shooting victims named

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4: The Indian Embassy Thursday confirmed the names of the four Indians who were killed in a shooting spree that took place on Monday in Saad Al Abdullah, Kabad and Salmi. The dead have been identified as Ramanaiah Nallagutta, Naresh Kumar Tokala, Masagiri Obul Reddy and Rambeem.

No word on whereabouts of abducted Indian expat

KUWAIT: The whereabouts of an Indian expat, Biju Kolaraveettil (36) who was abducted in the Philippines on June 23, remain unknown even after a month. Biju worked as Operations Manager at Brons Al-Taus Co and has been in Kuwait for the past 10 years, residing in Mangaf. He was kidnapped while visiting his wife Elina’s hometown in the Philippines. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the act, his wife’s family said, and they have not received any ransom calls.

61% of juvenile crimes committed by Kuwaitis

Kuwait – A study conducted in Kuwait reveals that 61 per cent of juvenile crimes are committed by Kuwaitis, while 70.2 per cent of crimes and 89 per cent of commercial crimes are committed by expatriates.
