Over 41,000 cases of Cancer between 1970-2009 in Kuwait

Kuwait – Around 41,702 cases of cancerous diseases were discovered in the Kuwait between 1970-2009, statistics by the Ministry of Health on revealed on Monday.

The Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Ibrahim Al-Abdulhadi, commenting on the cases, said that the mentioned statistic included around 40 percents of Kuwait while the rest of the cases belonged to other nationals.

He pointed out that in between January 2000 and December 2008, around 12, 989 cancer cases were discovered with 6,370 cases being Kuwaitis.

Breast Cancer, said the official, was very common amongst Kuwaiti women with a 36 percentage while less in other types of cancerous diseases.

Amongst men, Colorectal and NHL cancers were very common, said Al-Abdulhadi.He said that compared to the global numbers of such cases, Kuwait had less of such cases compared to countries like the US, England, and Australia.
