Runway shows are usually all about showing off designers’ new clothing lines. But at London Fashion Week, wig-maker Charlie Le Mindu broke tradition by making his models strut down the catwalk completely naked, said London’s Metro newspaper.

The 24-year-old, whose creations are worn by Lady Gaga (her Bad Romance video featured three of his wigs), was the subject of much talk from the first moment of his show, which featured models clad in hot pink high-heeled boots, hats, bags, wigs, and little else, said Britain’s Daily Mail.

Born in Medoc, France, Le Mindu launched his label a year ago, and is already no stranger to controversy.

He produced wigs in the shape of the Eiffel Tower and, at last year’s Fashion Week, he showed a headdress made of real mice and rat carcasses, outraging animal-rights activists, said the Mail.

Asked if he was worried about the public’s reaction, he said: “It’s better to make them (the rodents) beautiful than give them to the snakes.” Le Mindu came from a humble background, working in rural France and tending to grannies’ tresses in his native town.

At age 16, he moved to Bordeaux to work in a punk hairdressers’ salon.

By 18, he moved to Berlin, where he worked in nightclubs, cutting partygoers’ hair.

He moved to London at age 21 and became the hairdresser of choice, setting up pop-up salons in trendy spots.

He began working on wigs shortly after, and appeared at London Fashion Week for the first time last year.
