Files of employers bringing in excess laborers to be blocked
Kuwait: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor warned employers against bringing in extra and unwanted laborers into the country, saying the files of all such employers will be blocked and referred to authorities while the laborers will be deported, reports Al-Shahed daily.
High-level sources in the ministry said many employers have been bringing in extra laborers for money. They added that the ministry will launch inspection campaigns in private companies and institutions after Eid holidays and all violators will be referred to authorities for necessary disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr Mohammed Al-Afasi, who was facing severe criticism on the issue of the chairman of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS), said all the recent decisions in PAYS were taken in accordance with court rulings issued in this regard, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a statement, the minister said according to Article No. 58 of law 9/1996, anyone not enforcing a judicial verdict is sentenced to two years imprisonment and is terminated from the job. Also, if anyone uses his power to suspend the implementation of the verdict, he will be jailed for six months and fined.
Wondering why a lawmaker was criticizing the government, Al-Afasi said “he should praise the government instead for enforcing judicial verdicts.”
In an unrelated issue, sources say the Passports and Citizenship Department at the Ministry of Interior will receive the first batch of fresh passport copies on Friday. Nearly 10,000 passports are expected in the first batch and so, the passport shortage crisis will be resolved by the beginning of next week, they added.
