MEW to execute additional power transformer project
Kuwait – A source at the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) disclosed Monday that the ministry has circulated a tender for executing a project that involves establishing 225 additional buildings for power transformers. The buildings will be constructed in various Kuwaiti areas using ready-made concrete.
The step is part of the ministry’s plan to develop an electricity distribution network and supply the different Kuwaiti areas including the modern residential areas with adequate electricity.
For his part, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services at MEW Engineer Eyad Al-Falah affirmed that ministry has accomplished the project of extending pipes for supplying some power stations with fuel in coordination with the Ministry of Oil.
In a press release, he announced that the ministry has extended two 20-inch-pipes that will supply the eastern power station and western one in Doha area with heavy oil. The ministry has also set another pipe for supplying the Subiya power station with fuel.
The ministry will soon sign a contract with a local specialized company to modernize the electricity system at Kuwait Towers in coordination with Touristic Enterprises Company (TEC).
The ministry has also circulated a tender for building nine water towers in Sabah Al-Ahmad area.
