MoI Kuwait urges overland travelers to be cautious
Kuwait – he Kuwaiti Interior Ministry urged on Wednesday citizens and residents to take caution and observe traffic rules while driving in order to ensure the safety of their and their families’ lives. It also asked them to properly check their cars before traveling and to have fire extinguishers to use in case of fire.
"All travelers are required to have periodical and seasonal maintenance for their vehicles in order to avoid car accidents while traveling overland," it requested.
The ministry admonished that recklessness and misbehaviors are main causes of car accidents, which cause serious human and material losses.
The warning came as ten people, seven Kuwaitis and their three Indonesian housekeepers, were killed and two others were injured earlier on Monday when their speeding van blew a tire and crashed near Umreqaiba village south of Hafr Al-Baten in Saudi Arabia.
The Kuwaiti family was heading to Makkah to perform Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) and spend their summer vacation in one of the Kingdom’s summer resorts when the tire burst, the driver lost control and the van overturned.
This is surely a great step from the government but definitely not the solution to the problem.
Everybody knows know the sponsor will create an account in the name of the maid but will not hand over the ATM card. The maid will not even know in which bank he has opened an account. It’s high time that concrete steps are taken which plucks all such loop holes otherwise a major percentage of the population will still remain mistreated.
