bxrcllhqfoKuwait – The State of Kuwait is planning to install “eyeـprint” technology cameras at all of the country”s points of entry with the aim of apprehending all dual citizenship holders as well as wanted individuals through the machines, security sources revealed to Al Watan Saturday.

The sources further disclosed that the scheme will be applied to all passengers, whether they are citizens or expatriates, within the coming few weeks.

It has been learnt that the move is in line with similar moves by other Gulf countries which have installed similar machines at their points of entry to monitor and apprehend wanted individuals attempting to secretly enter the country. Security sources have said that the advanced machinery can reveal forged passports as well as people with dual nationality, particularly since this hotـtopic has set alarm bells ringing in the Gulf of late, particularly in the case of Dubai where individuals were able to enter on European passports and commit an assassination against a senior Hamas member.

According to the sources, the installation of such facilities has become imperative following the security breaches witnessed by Gulf nations of holders of multiple passports. They added that the installation of such cameras will enforce security in the troubled region.

According to security sources, the issue of dual citizenship is a thorny matter, particularly since many individuals are categorized as dual citizenship holders, while stressing that efforts should be harnessed to eliminate this phenomenon.

Meanwhile, the issue of dual citizenship remains a hot issue despite the measures announced by the government last week. Earlier on, Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber AlـKhaled AlـSabah announced that he fully endorsed these measures and stressed that the matter should be resolved within the legal parameters. He emphasized that legal action will be taken against individuals who unlawfully attained citizenship or were involved in concealing the truth from the government.
