Kuwait: The government — represented by its financial and service departments — has resumed its campaign to collect the overdue bill amounts owed to the country by public and private sectors, as well as citizens and residents, reports Al-Jareeda daily. This operation was briefly halted during the holy month of Ramadan following instructions from a circular issued by the Council of Ministers as assistance to citizens and residents.

A source said the Ministry of Finance has begun to collect the money for buildings rented by the private sector. The Ministry of Electricity and Water has also begun to prepare the bill amounts that need to be paid by residents in the country.

Meanwhile, the source added that the Ministry of Communications will send warnings to those who have not paid their telephone bills shortly, adding that the Ministry of Electricity and Water has the biggest share of defaulters, who collectively owe the country around KD 150 million. The budget of the Ministry of the Electricity and Water reached KD 560 million in August, making it one of the highest budget amounts to be allocated to a government authority or ministry, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. This was disclosed in the last report issued by the Ministry of Finance on the monthly follow-up of the performance of government authorities. The report also disclosed the budgets of every authority, which showed that the amount allotted to Ministry of Electricity and Water is one among the three highest budget amounts given to a ministry.
