Wataniya launches international top-up service
Kuwait – Wataniya Telecom said Tuesday that it launched “The International Top Up” service which enables customers to transfer mobile credit internationally.The service helps family members and friends to up each other’s credits simply through sending a text message while being in countries such as India, Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Jordan, it said.It added that this service being launched in Kuwait for the first time will cover more countries in the future.
“Our aim is to create excellent products leading to real customer value,” Wataniya’s GM and CEO Scott Gegenheimer said.
The company’s services are directed towards maintain connections among families and friends, he said.The first privately-run mobile operator, Wataniya Telecom was founded back in 1999.Qatar Telecom (Qtel) acquired 51 percent of Wataniya in 2007 from the Kuwait Projects Company Holding KSC (KIPCO) group.The company has branches in Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Tunisia, Palestine, and Maldives.
