I mean.. what has the human "civilisation" come to?
Inventing reasons to be happy!? Looking for an excuse to be happy?!

There is so much out there that can destroy happiness...
Even though happiness is a state of mind that you have to believe in... it is also an emotion that in spite of being the most sought after is till the one emotion that gets affected the most. Every other emotion humans experience can cause an imbalance in the happiness quotient... be it any of these or a combination of these... Trust, Disgust, Fear, Anger, Surprise, Anticipation, Sadness and even Love!

Seriously.. what the hell is so great about you being born that YOU are happy about it!?
If anyone deserves credit (or punishment) for you being born - it's your parents. YOU had absolutely NO contribution in your birth!

Festivals are overrated.

Agree with the B'day celebrations part (about responsibility)... but, the way I look at it... I'd just celebrate a b'day in the anticipation of the inevitable end!

Hardly see the point.

If only I could be happy about a particular DATE - things wouldn't be so difficult.
It takes a lot more than a colourful date printed in some stupid font on a calendar (with shit loads of annotations) to make me happy.

In an isolated community, that is self-sufficient and has no prior knowledge of anything (which makes them expect nothing)... there is still a chance of emotions surfacing. That is inevitable... but the only difference is that the emotion cannot not be given a name.

Now, by experience the community will learn that some of the emotions they feel are good and some are bad... soon, they will also realize that the good emotions can be experienced due to certain actions or thoughts (and vice versa)
This is when they will start finding ways & reasons to experience those positive emotions. When some of these ways and reasons would go beyond their control they would experience a negative emotion. (Am using the words negative & positive loosely here… for clarity of thought.)

Now, there is a necessity for control & order and someone would eventually arrive at the obvious conclusion. They would set up some parameters for experiencing the positive emotion… giving rise to dates to celebrate, and festivals and all that.

Did that sound ALL crazy???
