Passed by Lulu Qurain last evening for our weekly supply. Thot it wud be crowded with ppl shopping, prior to the onset of Ramadan....but to our surpise it was practically empty. Moreover, dint see much offers as claimed in their website. Well, there were...but the usual commodoties tats used during Ramadan...such as Vimto (I really dunno why this drink is so much in demand during Ramadan), dates, etc etc.
Indian veggies were priced differently and was on the expensive side....since our last visit. Red Apples from USA were selling for KD 1.300+ per kilo.....!!!!??? Guess the increment in salaries, for the government sector employees, has reciprocally increased the prices of foodstuffs and other commodoties. I sympathisize with the ppl who arent employed by the government. It will be really hard for them.
Anyways....if you are not too keen on buying the same brand every time....(like we buy Al Marai dairy products)....there are other brands local and from outside.....cheaper. There are choices if u r price conscious.
Enjoy shopping.

Eva since tat death of a guy who had eaten 'shawarma' from some restaurant in GOC....the Food Inspectors are out in full force....enforcing the laws of the land to the fullest...be it on small time restaurants or bigger ones. For how long...??? Until the channels n media get another 'fodder' to hike up their ratings...I guess.
During our visit...we had visited many restaurants and thankfully...we dint hav any un-toward incidents nor an upset tummy...due the food we had from there. I aint saying tat all the restaurants are adhering to a strict regime of hygienic conditions or such.....but there are a few...if not many...who looks after their business sincerely n dedicatedly....and wudnt want to tarnish nor bring dis-repute to their business. Wateva the reasons or result behind tat unfortunate incident (where the guy died)....I really hope tat it dont happena again and the 'greedy restaurant owners' get their houses, in order and cater to the public, with more sincierity and dedication in their buisness, rather than profit making....as it concerns....food...eaten by everyone....both young n old.

"Bush, Sonia, Rahul is all part of a 'secret gang' tat controls the world....from fashion to regimes....to even democratically elected governments. They are called the 'Secret Service'. That was wat was said by one of our colleagues (a mallu) who wanted to kill some time....when he passed by me. I really wanted to get up n walk away....on some pretext or the other....but had to endure his reasoning until my mobile rang...and he left. Yes...saved by the bell. Now...on thinking abt it.....I'm confused. Are we living a life similar (or something similar) to wat was portrayed in the movie.....The Island....??? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399201/
