I am just glad that they are not asking someone to mediate and help SORT the marriage. They have a problem, and they have agreed to separate.
Of course, it would be convenient if there was no paper work nonsense to deal with, but... hota hai, chalta hai...

The word 'divorce' has lost some of its taboo'ishness (took me a few seconds to come up with that one) in the past decade. A marriage contract is no longer like a life sentence without parole. People are free to terminate the contract when the relationship turns sour.
